TEHRAN – In separate messages, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has congratulated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on the anniversary of the liberation of South Lebanon from the Israeli occupation in 2000.

He described the victory as reminder of the Lebanese people’s “resistance, strong will and altruism”, Fars news agency reported on Monday.

Zarif also stated that the victory was a “turning point” in the history of the Muslims’ resistance.

He went on to say that this “great and unforgettable” event resulted from the Lebanese people’s unity.

In 2000, South Lebanon was liberated from Israeli occupation after 22 years.
